Public Library and Community Center Renovation and Expansion

In 1985, the Town of Penfield hired MRB Group to convert a 1950’s school building into a community center and library.

Fifteen years later, in 2000, the Town of Penfield contracted us again to design an expansion and renovation of the facility. The improvement project included:

• Adding 11,000 square feet
• Renovating 18,000 square feet

We designed numerous improvements to the library:

• New main stack room
• Children’s reading room
• Library for young adults
• New fireplace as a focal point
• New celerstory windows for additional natural lighting

MRB Group also updated the library to include:

• Communications
• Computer network

Information access wiring to accommodate advanced technology and a modern media center
