Spencerport Forcemain

The Village of Spencerport Forcemain project is part of a large
capital project to construct a pump station and forcemain to convey
Spencerport’s sewage to a Monroe County Pure Waters interceptor
sewer. Because this pump and forcemain system must be capable
of handle fl ow very low to peak fl ow parameters, a twin 14”
diameter forcemain system was selected. During peak fl ow periods
both forcemains will convey sewage. During low fl ow periods only
one forcemain will be utilized.
The twin forcemain will be aligned from the Village of Spencerport
to the Town of Gates - a 5.5 mile distance - where they will
discharge into a MCPW interceptor sewer. To complete the distance
with twin forcemains, 58,000 Feet of pipe is required. The pipe
material selected for this project is High Density Polyethylene
Pipe, which is delivered in 50’ lengths and fused together to form
a continuous pipe line. The piping for this project was bid and
procured with a material bid prior to the bidding of a labor contract
for the installation of the forcemains.
As part of this project, directional boring of roads and the NYS
Erie Canal is being utilized as a installation technique. Directional
drilling is a method of pipeline installation which allows the
crossing obstacles, without surface disruption.
