Red Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility

Red Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility

MRB Group designed and bid this new regional Wastewater Treatment Facility in 2005 after preparing the Engineering Report and Facility Plan, which formed the basis of design and brought closure to years of planning a solution to the area’s wastewater treatment and disposal problems. These problems included inadequate residential septic systems in the Village of Red Creek, and an overloaded wastewater treatment plant at the Butler Correctional Facility, among others.

The facility, which became fully operational in October 2006, was designed using a sequential phasing of wastewater generators. Phase 1 includes flows from the Butler Correctional Facility, Red Creek Central Schools, and a number of homes in the Village of Red Creek, as the Village continues its phased program of sanitary sewer improvements. Phase 2 is intended to include flows from the balance of the Village of Red Creek along with the Village of Fairhaven and Fair Haven Beach State Park. Phase 3 is intended to include flows from the Village of Wolcott, the Port Bay area, and the Town of Rose. At present, the facility is designed to accommodate Phases 1 and 2 for a combined total flow of approximately 500,000 GPD including the entirety of the Village of Red Creek. The design incorporates the necessary elements for a straightforward expansion to accommodate the Phase 3 flows.
