MRB Group is pleased to announce that the firm has received a 2008 Engineering Excellence Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York) following a statewide competition. The goal of this awards competition is to convey to the engineering industry, the construction industry, government officials and the general public the contributions that ACEC New York member firms make to the environment and to their communities through exceptional engineering design. MRB's President, James R. Gresens, P.E., recently accepted the award during an ACEC function at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City.

The specific MRB Group project judged in the competition was the Red Creek Area Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility Project sponsored by the Wayne County Water and Sewer Authority. This regional facility has made it possible for the Authority to treat wastewater flows form several municipalities in both Wayne and Cayuga Counties and will bring about significant water quality improvements to several threatened streams and water bodies in the area. The facility was designed by MRB Group to treat a total flow of 500,000 gallons per day of wastewater and can be expanded to treat up to 2 million gallon per day in the future to accommodate the needs of additional communities along and near the Lake Ontario shoreline. Long-term environmental and economic development benefits are expected for those communities served by this facility.

MRB Group was the lead engineer for the Red Creek Regional Project. The firm also provided construction management services for the $9.3 million treatment facility, which brought closure to years of planning and provided an ideal solution to the area's wastewater treatment and disposal problems.
